Market Table Brunching

I love when I can squeeze in a proper brunch on a Sunday. After church at HillsongNYC, my Fran Hannah and I headed to Market Table in the West Village. I was pleasantly surprised by this new dining experience. It was an excellent recommendation and I can not wait to head back for dinner. The cuisine is very seasonal American, farm to table.

Nestled into a cozy corner, we sipped on coffee and tea to warm up and chatted about life, love and the future.

After much deliberation, I decided on the Lentils, Kale, & Braised Ham Hock. It was topped with a red wine poached egg meurette. I was a bit freaked out by the color, but the taste was wonderful.

They have a variety of unique vegetable sides. I opted for the Baked and Sliced Sweet Potato covered with brown sugar, sage and a mini roasted bok choy.

This deliciousness is the Orange Blossom French Toast. It is smothered with blackberry sauce, almond butter and vanilla cream.

With Han preparing for her wedding and living back on Long Island for a few months, time with her is so precious. It was wonderful to have some girl time with one of my best frans. I'm so excited for what's to come for her over the next few months!

Restaurants are getting more and more creative about how they deliver the check. Market Table slips the bill in a journal which dinners are encouraged to write about their experience. It was fun to read what others wrote and leave my mark.

Bon Appetit!

Urban Cowgirl

Some things I love about winter:

1. Hats
2. Chunky Scarves
3. Layering

On, what I think was our last mild winter day, I decided to combine all three of these. This outfit can be easily replicated in a variety of ways. I love mixing and matching long sleeve shirts (collared or without), sweaters and statement accessories for a variety of casual yet fabulous looks.

Many people think they can't wear hats. The great news is that EVERYONE can rock a hat, they just have to find the right shape and fit. Personally, I enjoy a fedora shaped hat...the larger the brim the better. But there are tons of varieties out there to choose from. Great places to start include Brixton, Urban Outfitters, and Goorin Bros. A great patterned scarf can liven and warm up an outfit. I picked this beauty up last year, but fell in love with a ton at Zara and H&M this season. It is colder than ever out now, make sure to pick one up!

Knee-High Boots & Buvette

I woke up Sunday craving Buvette. I texted Natty to go for brunch, and after church we headed there with an extra Fran in tow, Ms. Meredith. We had to wait a bit, Buvette's popularity is definitely rising, but eventually got a table at this West Village staple. It was worth the stint in the cold to come inside to the tantalizing scents, busting chatter and warm hues.

Look at the precious new custom coffee cups they got!

We started with the Croissants. The order is served with a spoon filled with butter and jam.

Next, came the eggs. The Jambon Cru never gets old - Steamed Eggs, Prosciutto and Parmesan over toast.

We also got the Croque Madame - I refer to it as a fancy Ham & Cheese with Egg. And who can resist their Roquefort Butter. It is literally butter and roquefort cheese mixed together with cherries.

Temps in the city have been fluctuating a lot. It is like the city can't decide if it is ready for Winter or not. The best way to manage your wardrobe during the changing temps, is to play with layer lengths. My look for Sunday was a long shirt with long boots and a short jacket.

This incredible coat is BB Dakota. I picked it up at the Piperlime Store

Over the Knee Boots are very in this season. I was hesitant to give into the fad, but I stumbled upon these beauties on sale (under $100) and could not resist.

What fashion fad do you want to give into, but don't want to spend a fortune on? I'd love to hear!

Hudson Clearwater & Fab Faux Fur

I love nothing more than eating food with the Frans. I was itching to do a food post for the blog, so my incredible Frans jumped at the opportunity to support. We were planning on checking out Via Carota, the new West Village spot opened by the folks at Buvette and I Sodi, but sadly it is dinner only right now. Disappointed, we did a quick survey of the area and landed at the popular Hudson Clearwater. I've heard so much about this place, I was excited to check it out.

Mentally prepped for a meal at Via Carota, we had to adjust back for brunch at Hudson Clearwater. They have a simple, yet unique brunch menu. Each dish sounded delicious. The restaurant has a rustic casual atmosphere with lots of wood and dark worn metal throughout. They have a lush back porch which is always packed during the warmer months.

I was starving. Still in lunch, not brunch mode, I started with a salad. This salad was packed with baby beets, burrata, watercress, toasted hazelnuts, and topped with a shallot vinaigrette.

Han nibble on the Avocado Toast sprinkled with chili flakes over Pullman Toast. We were both hungry so I forgot to snap a shot before digging in.

Moving onto the main dishes. I went hardy with their Angus Burger. This beauty was smothered in a Jalapeno Cheddar. The side of fries were not a bad option either.

The other brunch salad was packed with Arugula, Gala Apples, Fennel, Dates, Pine Nuts, Ricotta and a Balsamic dressing.

I'm obsessed with fall fashion. It is my favorite season for clothing. The sunlight was perfect in the West Village and I had to snap a few pics.

Two things to check out in this picture; 1) my awesome gel manicure from Paint Box, 2) my jewelry. My bow ring is from Kate Spade and my stackable rings are a steal from Forever 21. The watch is Michel Kors. My necklace was a given to me by my mother, she received it from my father years ago. My pearl ring used to be my Grandmother's. Nothing better than family heirlooms to add a classic touch to a modern look.

Thanks for my wonderful Fran Meredith for snapping all the outfit pictures. She's the best.

Do you think you can pull off the faux fur look?
My tip is confidence, what's yours?
