Fat Radish & Sunday Funday Easter Edition

I have wanted to eat at The Fat Radish for years. The thing is, it is usually packed and the Lower East Side location is tough to manage from the Upper West Side. But, heading back to the city from Brooklyn this Saturday, it was an easy stop off for a fancy feast.

The decor gets two thumbs up. It has a romantic, elegant, yet masculine farm to table restaurant feel. Fresh lush flowers line the walls, white washed reclaimed wood is contrasted with dark iron metal, and there are lots of mirrors to open the small space.

We easily found spots at the bar for our meal. Instead of a bread basket, you are served a complimentary radish salad to nibble on while you wait for your food to come out.

I ordered the Green Curried Monkfish with Wild Rice, Thai Eggplant & Snake Beans. It was filling, healthy, and just a little spicy.

Mer decided on a healthy route with The Fat Radish Plate. It is a mix of fresh seasonal vegetables.

Carrie down on the end opted for the Asparagus Risotto.

Fast forward to Sunday Funday! Happy Easter everyone! Now let's play spot the creepy bunny.

I was at church most of Easter, but wanted to make sure I got a few shots with my beautiful friends. These people don't just bring their "Easter Best" on Easter, they bring it all year long!

I took some of these with my iphone so I apologize for the poor quality and wonky editing.

Gosh, church was incredible on Easter...but, church is awesome every Sunday! I loved my day celebrating Jesus. I hope whatever you chose to do on Easter, you felt love and were with those you care about. Cross = Love.

Bundle of Joy in BK

Last year was the year of weddings. This year, it is the year of babies. I guess my friends don't mess around.

This weekend we celebrated the amazing Karla and her soon to be daughter. Karla and Kane are pastors at my church, Hillsong NYC. They are some of the most incredible people I have ever met and it was such a blessing to celebrate this family. When honor is due, it is not tough to give.

Being a single girl in NYC without kids, I sometimes feel so much younger than my friends who are married with children. In actuality, they are maybe one year older than me or even younger. It hit me this weekend how our perspective of life changes so drastically when we become a parent. You go from a selfish existence to a selfless one. It is a shift I have not experienced yet, but it makes perfect sense. Maybe it is that shift that makes me feel like all of my friends with children are so much more mature and older than I am. Or maybe, I just need to allow myself some grace and enjoy the season God has me in.

Either way, here are some shots of her gorgeous love filled shower.

This cake was so beautiful. It had edible glitter sprinkled all over it. I can't imagine how much work it took to make.

Pavlova. It is an Australian dessert that is heaven to me. I could have eaten the whole thing but sadly had to share with the twenty other women who felt the same way.

It was quite a spread. We filled ourselves with french toast covered in blueberry compote and syrup, along with a breakfast biscuit sandwich stuffed with egg, bacon, cheese and a special sauce. There was also an eggless option of a croissant with bacon and spinach, and a beautiful fruit salad.

There were a lot of babies and pregnant ladies at this party.

This pic was too precious not to put up...sorry Katie that your eyes are closed...let's pretend you're praying. Can't wait to celebrate your new little one...

Now to presents. That's really the best part. So many awwws and ooo's. We were so girly. Karla looked so beautiful today.

SO MUCH PINK!

Congratulations Karla & Kane. Love you guys. Excited to meet the new little baby girl.

A Friendly Farmer & Sunday Funday

I'm beginning to really love these Sunday Funday posts! The freezing temperatures continue here in the Big Apple...this Sunday was particularly unbearable. The winds whipping around the buildings and down the narrow streets sent chills to my core. It was deceivingly beautiful though, the sun was doing its best to shine bright and warm us.

I started the day with brunch at Friend of a Farmer just south of Gramercy Park. It's a popular brunch spot that does not take reservations, so you can usually see a long line formed outside, especially around noon. My favorite part of Friend of a Farmer is the interior decor. The owners did a great job of replicating a country farm house feel with vibrant floral wallpaper, overflowing cases of fruits and vegetables, dried flowers, fireplaces, woven baskets, & mason jars. Cozily nestled into seats at a rustic wood table, I had a sweet catch up with a couple friends.

Coffee Coffee Coffee!!

The food is home-style, down on the farm, cooking. It is hearty yet health and fresh with a large selection of egg dishes. I chose the Farmers Market Omelet filled with fresh spinach, mushrooms, and cheddar. Most brunch dishes come with a side of home fries.

Nat opted for the Down Home Hearty Corn Beef Hash.

Fresh French Pressed Coffee is an easy way to glam up a simple brew. The flavor is always bolder, smother and richer.

What's a Sunday Funday post without a little bit of fashion inspiration! It was all about the layers on this wintery day!

We picked up a few coffees at Irving Farm and headed over to church!

I actually learned a few new phrases in French this weekend (#1 on my 14 for 2014 list)! Abena taught me how to say & sing Happy Birthday - Joyeux Anniversaire - and thanks to Natalie's sweater, I can now say "Black is the New Black" - le noir et le nouveau noir.

On a side note, Meredith took up playing the harmonica as a hobby for about 24 hours. In that time, she got really good.

What did you do this past Sunday Funday? Any fun plans for next weekend?
